Chemotherapy was Blessed

I tried to remember to pray over every bag of chemotherapy, and by God's grace and excellent health care I am glad to report the six of six treatments felt like it was attacking the cancer and didn't leave me too fatigued.

I am thankful to have finished back to back ultra weekends.  The 50K Endurance Challenge, and the Highlands Sky 40 Mile Trail Run.

There was a third ultra this past week end.  My wife had a "little" project.  When asked how I felt the morning after, I honestly said, "I felt better last week after running forty miles".

So, for all the husbands who do week end projects, consider it equal to an ultra marathon with thousands of feet of elevation change,

Understatement of the year regarding the Highlands Sky 40 Mile Trail Run.

According their website, Highlands Sky 40 mile trail run “is a demanding course on varied terrain”. I appreciate the modest approach the RD, Dan Lehman takes to the race, but... “varied terrain”? It is like saying, a menopausal woman or a man in a mid life crisis has varied emotions, thoughts and desires.  Let me try to list the variety of just some of the terrain. There is a metal bridge, multiple wood bridges, makeshift log bridges, asphalt, limestone, gravel, mud, nettles, poison ivy, boulders, rocks, pebbles, lichen, moss, thorn bushes,  stones, stumps, roots, snakes, dust, creeks, streams, ski slopes, and, and, and.  After getting through the race, I have fulfilled my quota for rocks and mud for a lifetime or until next year, God willing and I get my registration in on time. The elevation stays the same about two feet, and then it changes abruptly to either a steep ascent or descent for about six miles.

The one thing that did not vary, was the efficiency and friendliness of everyone affiliated with the race.  The aid station workers were always focused on the needs of the runners and had a more than adequate supply of food and hydration choices.  I even found the sweepers to be very nice and courteous as they encouraged me to pick up the pace so that “I” would not miss the cut off.  I really appreciated being escorted the last dozen miles as two others and I got off the trail three different times and needed their help.

As a nice young woman named Catherine and I fought with each other who would be last the “varied terrain” of the last 100 yards was mostly uphill.  I let her win (lose), since I have been last so many other times, I thought it might help her attain a first in her life.  Being able to finish with seven minutes to spare after traversing “varied terrain” for 41 miles I am just thankful to recline in a non “varied terrain” recliner and reminisce the variety of the Highlands Sky 40 (which is actually 41) mile trail run, but who’s counting?

Highlands Sky 40 Mile Trail Run

I leave soon for West Virginia for the Highlands Sky 40 mile trail run to raise awareness and finances for bible based educational infrastructure in India, Tanzania, Nepal, and Cambodia (Priority One Missions).

Your prayers are effective. I have completed 6 of the 6 chemotherapies, with little side affects.  The chemotherapy, "mixed with faith" are eroding the mountain of cancer, and being cast into the sea.  Healing is included in the package deal of what we know as salvation.

Here is the passage the Lord had me ponder most of last Saturday's run,

3 John: 2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth
I especially pondered the significance of being the "beloved".

Today, as thoughts flow through your mind, consider the fact that you the "beloved", and within a loving relationship with God, you can find whatever is needed and wanted for your life,

Christ was made to be sin, so we can be made righteous.

Do you see it?
Christ was made to be sin, so that we can be made righteous.  This is the great gift we are to lay ahold of.  Eternal Life.  The eternal life of God is now ours, for we have been given eternal life and made right with God.

2 Cor. 5:21 in the NIV
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Do you see this?  God made Jesus to be sin for us, so we might be become the righteousness of God.

2 Cor. 8:9 in the NIV.

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.

Do you see this?  Christ, who was rich, became poor, so that we, through his poverty might become rich.

And this is specifically talking about financial issues.  It is in the context of an offering, a financial offering.

The bible promises, as we give, we become partners in faith, joint heirs with the plan of the gift of all God is, and just one little part of that life of God is becoming like Jesus was in heaven, through his sacrifice on earth.

Jesus, who was rich in heaven, became poor, so that we can become like he was and now is in heaven.

Salvation, is a gift, with attendant blessings. Just one is being made rich.  It is an inheritance.  Don’t get mad at someone who was made rich.  It was a gift.

I have the life of God in me.

We move from living at the most 120 years, to living the life God lives, which is eternal.

This is what we are to lay ahold of, and fight the good fight of faith for.

It is not by works but by faith, we receive.

It is a gift, a gift of God’s life.  Whatever and whoever God is, God does, God’s character, actions, power, strength and glory.  Whatever and whoever is God is included in this word, the Zoe, the life of God. We know God is love, so eternal life is the God kind of life, which is love, an eternal love that is given to all who believe in Jesus as the mediator between God and humanity.

This is a further understanding of the righteousness of God.  The life of God is the righteousness of God given to us, by faith.  The actions and character of God is a gift given to those who fight the good fight of faith, and lay ahold of the eternal life of God.

Here is how God chose to give us human beings His life, called eternal life.

2 Cor. 5:21 from the NLT: For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”

Eternal Life is a gift to be received, NOW.

What if you knew your grandmother had brought you a present, on your birthday.  But the day kept going on and on and on.  And, no one was letting you open your present.  How would it make you feel to not be able to open a present, you knew your grandmother had brought for you?

What if your sister or brother told you, yes, grandmother brought you a gift, but you have to wait two weeks, and only if for two weeks, you do not yell at me, can you open the gift.  Anytime you yell, the clock starts again. You have to go two weeks in a row without yelling at me to get your present.

How would that make you feel?

That is salvation by works.  You get to be saved only if for two weeks, you do not yell at your sister.  That is works, that is law, but we are not under works or law.  We are under grace.

It is NOW, and it is a gift of God to be received. It is NOT about being good for two weeks before you receive salvation.

It is by faith in the obedience of Jesus Christ. It is now, that you can receive salvation and all its attendant blessings.
